Dr. Nabih Cherradi is Desert Technologies’ Chief Technology Officer. Has spent over 34 years building on a long track record of equipment's/production lines as well as business development in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries. Prior to joining Desert Technologies, Nabih is also the CEO of EmpowerSun, a Swiss based photovoltaic energy consultancy, which he founded in 2009. In the meantime, he also co-founded ISWT a French solar developer company. From 2007-2009, as a Vice President/CTO, he accompanied Yingli Green Energy in its fast expansion with responsibility for the technology and manufacturing. He also participated in its IPO in New York (NYSE). As operations & process director at Applied Materials from 1997 to 2007 Nabih was responsible for installing turn-key semiconductor and photovoltaic production lines throughout the world, installing multiple GWs of production capacity across a ten year period. As a scientist, he focused on advance materials for different applications working with different industries (Semiconductor, Photovoltaic and Hard tools)He holds a PhD on materials sciences from the University Henri Poincaré, Nancy as well as an MBA, from the Business School of Nancy, (France).

Extensive experience of development and implementation of Projects, Policies and Strategies, Project Financing. Worked with international organizations based out of India, Philippines, Germany & Qatar and have experience of working on projects and assignment of more than 20 countries, mainly covering south Asia, Southeast Asia, central Asia, Middle East, USA and Europe. Diversified experience of working with private, government, International and Multilateral. Experience of project conceptualization, preparation of technical project reports and preliminary design, complete cycle of project financing, climate financing and implementation of clean energy projects. Extensive experience of climate change mitigation project development and carbon market financing with capacity building of developing countries, development of eligible GHG emission reduction projects under CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) of Kyoto Protocol and other carbon markets, for availing financial benefits and improving financial sustainability of the environment friendly projects. Currently leading multiple advisory/consulting assignments mainly related to GHG Accounting & Carbon Footprinting, supporting various government and international private organizations for Carbon Neutral operations, development and promotion of Voluntary Carbon Market in the region, Carbon Finance and supporting organizations for development of GHG emission reduction projects to avail carbon market benefits under different mechanisms.

As VP of Product Development at Yellow Door Energy, Youssef oversees a team of product development experts to bring innovative product solutions to businesses. Most recently, he developed the company’s battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions for commercial and industrial businesses in Middle East and South Africa. He has over a decade of experience in the renewable energy industry, with particular focus on hybrid solutions. 

Prior to joining Yellow Door Energy, Youssef was the Chief Technology Officer at Solstice Renewable Energy in Jordan, and the head of the renewable energy department at ACEMCO in Lebanon. 

Youssef holds an Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) in France and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from American University of Beirut in Lebanon.

Over the past 13 years, he has been mainly responsible for providing consulting services for SMM's photovoltaic and hydrogen energy industry, focusing on the research of market price index methodology for photovoltaic and hydrogen energy industry chains. During this period, he participated in the production and release of price indices for polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules, green hydrogen, and blue hydrogen in China, and completed SMM's supply and demand database of photovoltaic and hydrogen energy industry chains.
